January is National Blood Donor Month, a perfect opportunity to recognize the incredible contributions of blood donors and the profound impact they have on our community. Every day, lives are saved and transformed thanks to the generosity of those who choose to give the gift of life. For many patients, blood donations play a critical role in their care, whether it's supporting someone through surgery, aiding a cancer patient during treatment, or providing lifesaving transfusions after a traumatic injury.
In 2024, blood drives held at Mile Bluff were able to collect an astounding 293 units of blood products—this was enough to potentially save up to 879 lives. Pattie, a regular donor and Mile Bluff employee, when asked why she continues to give, said, "You never know when someone you love might need blood, and it's a free gift that I can give to someone in need. It’s a simple way to make a big difference."
A big thank you to everyone who chose to donate. Your impact is immeasurable—you are true heroes to our patients, giving them hope, recovery, and healing.
As we move into the year ahead, we encourage everyone to consider joining this vital effort. If you’re an experienced donor, bring a friend to your next appointment. If you’ve never donated before, now is the perfect time to start. Together, we can ensure that our community has access to the lifesaving care they deserve.
