Cardiac, Pulmonary & PAD Rehabilitation

Mile Bluff Medical Center offers three specialized rehabilitation programs:

  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Rehabilitation

These programs help individuals improve their health, manage chronic conditions, and build confidence through supervised exercise, education, and ongoing support.

All programs are led by registered nurses and an exercise physiologist who work closely with each participant's healthcare providers. Respiratory therapists are available for questions when needed , and dietitians provide nutrition education—all to support your safe, personalized recovery.

Mile Bluff’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program is certified through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

Participants meet three times a week for exercise and education sessions.

What To Expect

  • Reduce and control breathing difficulties
  • Understand their diagnosis and treatment options
  • Cope with chronic lung disease

  • Symptom assessment and when to seek medical care

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Rehabilitation

Walking Therapy Relieves Peripheral Artery Disease Symptoms

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) occurs when plaque builds up in the leg arteries, reducing blood flow. This increases the risk of heart attack and stroke and often causes leg pain during walking.

Common Signs & Symptoms

  • Leg or muscle pain when walking that improves with rest
  • Foot or toe pain at rest, often disturbing sleep
  • Slow‑healing wounds or ulcers on the feet or toes

Research shows that structured walking programs can be one of the most effective treatments for PAD—often more effective than medication or surgery for improving walking distance and reducing pain.

What To Expect

Mile Bluff’s Health Promotion Department offers a 12‑week PAD Rehabilitation Program.

Benefits of PAD Rehab

  • Reduced leg pain and cramping during walking
  • Improved walking distance and endurance
  • Better circulation and symptom control
  • Lowered risk of heart attack and stroke
  • Support in adopting long‑lasting healthy habits

Education & Support Topics

Rehabilitation may include help with:

  • Managing blood pressure
  • Losing weight
  • Quitting smoking
  • Managing diabetes
  • Lowering cholesterol
  • Making informed nutrition choices
  • Proper foot and wound care
  • Medication management
  • Beginning and maintaining a walking program
