Each year as the fall season rolls in, it’s only a matter of time
before the influenza virus makes an appearance. What is different about
this year, however, is that the COVID-19 is likely to be spreading right
alongside influenza.
Being vaccinated for influenza is the most effective way to protect you
and those around you from the flu. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,
it may be even more important than ever for you to get your influenza
vaccination, and to get it as soon as possible.
While the flu vaccine doesn’t protect you from COVID-19, it does
come with a number of benefits for you and the community. Vaccination
provides protection from the flu and the serious health complications
that can come with it. It helps to slow the overall spread of influenza,
which decreases the need for medical services and hospitalizations. This
then frees up valuable healthcare resources that may be needed to handle
other illnesses, such as COVID-19.
Mile Bluff Medical Center is committed to the health and wellness of the
community, during the flu season, and always. This is why the organization
has made getting your influenza vaccine even easier this year. As always,
immunizations can be administered during clinic appointments. In addition,
influenza vaccine clinics are being offered to Mile Bluff patients after
hours and on weekends throughout the month of October.
