Over $61k raised for 3D mammography

This summer, Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation set out to impact the health of the community by supporting a new tool for healthcare providers in the fight against breast cancer...3D mammography.

Mammography is an important tool for detecting the first signs of cancer. Studies show that 3D mammography can improve detection of breast cancer in women of all ages, provide clearer images regardless of breast tissue density, and increase early detection of smaller, more invasive cancers.

The cost of 3D mammography equipment is around $450,000. The foundation knew projects of this magnitude are made easier when supported by donors who believe in the mission of providing exceptional healthcare at the local level.

A goal was set to raise $100,000 to offset the costs of the new equipment. While the goal was not met, the foundation is pleased to announce that over $61,000 was collected to support the cause.

Whether it was a generous donation from a business or individual, or funds raised from a high school volleyball ‘pink night’ or the Bras for A Cause initiative, the foundation was blown away by the support of the community.

Mile Bluff’s new machine has been up and running since January 2020. It produces clearer, enriched images, while also featuring a SensorySuite and the technology to provide stereotactic biopsies in Mauston.

Patients depend on Mile Bluff to offer the most accurate screenings with the latest technology. Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation is grateful for the overwhelming support provided by the community. Bringing 3D mammography to Mile Bluff is an investment in healthcare excellence and is truly a gift to the entire region.
