Comprehensive sleep medicine program now available
at Mile Bluff Medical Center

Diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders is now available right in Mauston.  Whether you are experiencing symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), Insomnia, Restless Legs Syndrome or any of the seven dozen known sleep disorders, you can receive care without having to leave town.  Mile Bluff Medical Center is pleased to announce its new sleep medicine program.

People who snore excessively or stop breathing during sleep may have OSA.  It is estimated that up to 18 million American adults have this disorder.  Left untreated, OSA can increase an individual’s risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes, and can contribute to strokes and work- or traffic-related accidents due to daytime fatigue.  Sleep disorders can lead to these serious, life-threatening issues, and should not be ignored.

“In deciding how to bring this important service to the community, we looked at our available options and chose to start out by partnering with Whitney Sleep Diagnostics & Consultants” explained James O’Keefe, CEO of Mile Bluff Medical Center.  “This will allow us to diagnose and treat patients for any of the over 80 known sleep disorders; and offer follow-up care from a Board Certified Sleep Specialist.”

Initially, Dr. Courtney Whitney will oversee the sleep program in Mauston; however, two of Mile Bluff’s physicians will work alongside him, and are training to earn their certification as sleep specialists.  According to Dr. Whitney, “This new partnership demonstrates the commitment Mile Bluff Medical Center has to the community it serves.”

If you or someone you care about is having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or not waking up refreshed, discuss these things with a healthcare provider.  A simple screening tool can help determine if a referral to Mile Bluff’s sleep medicine program is appropriate for your situation.  For more information, call 608-847-1060.
