Cardiac Rehabilitation

Provides an exercise & education program for patients following
heart attacks, surgery and/or procedures. It is part of the Health Promotion

The physicians who practice at Hess Memorial Hospital manage a third

Emergency Department will meet even your most critical needs with state or

Cardiac and Trauma Life Support.

Hospice is a program that provides services to the
terminally ill and their families to promote comfort and allow them to stay
at home if possible.

Laboratory
|
Laboratory services are performed with the
latest state-of-the-art instrumentation by trained professional personnel.
Laboratory services are available for inpatients 24 hours a day. Routine outpatient
hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. Clinic lab
hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

60-bed Medicare-certified skilled-care
nursing facilities with 24-hour-per-day registered nurse coverage. Fair View is
located in Mauston and attached to the hospital. Crest View is located in
New Lisbon with wings especially dedicated to Alzheimer's/dementia
patients and a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF).

Imaging (Radiology)

Our Radiology
Department offers
complete imaging services including x-ray, tomography, and dedicated mammography
(breast examination). Specialty
services include ultrasound, echocardiography, nuclear medicine, bone
densitometry, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), and
computerized axial tomography (CT scan).

Nutritional Services
|
Nutrition counseling provided by a registered dietitian,
includes professional information and advice to help develop a plan for
improved nutrition and health.
|

Pastoral Care
|
A staff chaplain is
available 24 hours each
day.
|
|
Pharmacy
|
Pharmacy services are available 24 hours daily.
A medication compounding service is also provided for customized IV
medications.
|
|
Rehabilitation
Department
|
This department
includes consultations and case management, sports
medicine, ergonomics, industrial
rehabilitation, physical therapy, occupational
therapy, personal training, and home safety assessments.

Respiratory Therapy
|
We offer a variety of pulmonary (lung)
services ranging from routine nebulizer (medicated aerosol) treatments to
full respirator support. Pulmonary
function tests are preformed and cardiac stress testing is available under the
direction of a cardiologist (heart specialist). Respiratory therapy services are available 24 hours per day.

Respite Care
|
Care Share is a hospital-based service providing
temporary professional nursing while normal care givers are away. Care
Share patients can stay in the hospital from one day to three weeks. Reservations
must be made one week in advance.

Specialty Clinic
|
The UW Specialty Clinic provides Medical
specialists from the UW Health
who travel to Mauston for the convenience of our patients.
|

Speech
Pathology
|
Services are provided by a state licensed and nationally certified speech
pathologist.
|

Social Services
|
Social
Services needs are provided by qualified social workers, and are
available for direct patient service in the area of short-term counseling
relating to family and personal problems, which may be aggravated by an injury
or illness. Discharge planning is available for people leaving the hospital or
nursing home, as is financial planning to help you meet the cost of your care.

Mile Bluff Medical Center has support groups for grief, fibromyalgia,
diabetes, cancer, and many more, visit the Calendar of Events to learn
more.

Surgery
|
Our surgery department has a trained operating
room team available 24 hours per day to provide scheduled, as well as emergency
surgical care. Besides general
surgery, the following surgical specialties are available at our hospital: gastroenterology,
gynecology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, oral surgery, otolaryngology and
urology. Day
surgery is offered in these areas as a cost-effective alternative to our regular
surgical services.
