Mile Bluff establishes fundraising entity

Mile Bluff is proud to announce the establishment of the Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation. The entity will serve as a major fundraising arm of the organization, and will provide philanthropic opportunities as a means of support for the medical center. The foundation will assist Mile Bluff in fulfilling its mission, while adhering to its core values and pursuing its vision to provide the community with healthcare evolving for life.

Mile Buff Medical Center owns and operates the only hospital in Juneau County, as well as two nursing homes, an assisted living facility, three outreach medical centers, and a retirement apartment complex. The work of the foundation will support the service of all aspects of the organization, maximizing its impact on the health of the community.

In honor of former Mile Bluff Vice President / Chief Nursing Officer, one of the first undertakings of the foundation will be to create the Carol Purvis Education Fund. This will be used to financially support local students working toward careers in healthcare. James O’Keefe, Mile Bluff President / Chief Executive Officer stated, “We are excited to launch this charitable foundation with a scholarship in Carol’s name.” He continued, “The foundation will enhance the fabulous work that our auxiliary already does for us at the thrift shop in Mauston. We are eager to branch out in this new direction.”

Martha Airth-Kindree (Mile Bluff’s Health Science Library / Grants Director) and Ann Kerian (AK: Consulting & Coaching LLC of Wisconsin Dells) are leading the foundation initiatives, along with the help of board members: James O’Keefe, Christine Carter, Sandy Linsmeyer, P. Michael McCormick DDS, Molly Scully, Larry Willer and Dr. Dan Kattenbraker. Planning is in its early stages, but further details will be coming soon in regard to organized giving opportunities.
