Shari Sarazin performs at Terrace Heights Retirement Community By Amanda Emery St. Patrick’s Day may have been on March 17, but Celtic harpist and vocalist Shari Sarazin says that one day is just not enough to embrace her Irish background. During her March 22 performance at Terrace Heights Retirement Community, she expressed her feelings with the audience, “One day to celebrate the Irish heritage is just not enough, so I think of March as St. Patrick’s month!” Through song, Shari highlighted different periods of historical significance for the Irish. She moved from original Celtic tunes, to traditional Irish-American songs, and finally on to contemporary pieces that ‘Irish Wisconsinites’ would be able to relate to. As with every performance, Shari opened with Amazing Grace, because she says, “It’s by God’s amazing grace that we are all gathered here today to enjoy this music.” Some of her other numbers included Eleanor Plunkit, Act of God, Marie’s Wedding and She Moved Through the Fair. Prior to performing, Shari Hanson - manager of Terrace Heights - introduced Ms. Sarazin by stating, “I know you are all anxious to hear her play. Over the years, Shari has become the most wanted performer at Terrace Heights.” Throughout the show it was easy to see why the audience enjoys Ms. Sarazin so much. She encourages her audience to “…allow the soothing sounds of the Celtic Harp to relax you and feel free to tilt your head back and fall asleep to its calming sound.” Because of her unique way of connecting with the audience, there is sure to be plenty of anticipation until Shari’s next performance at Terrace Heights. This is just one of the many public events that takes place each year at Terrace Heights.
