Rhonda Larson honored at state-wide healthcare employee recognition program
“I remember in grade school wanting to do something in my life that would make a difference” commented Rhonda Larson, RN, Director of Cancer Care Services at Mile Bluff Medical Center. She continued, “I knew from the beginning of my nursing career that I could help patients physically, mentally and emotionally. What I didn’t know was how my patients would change my life.”
Rhonda joined 76 other healthcare employees from across the state at the 2009 Wisconsin Healthcare Employee Pride Program recognition dinner May 7 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
The program, sponsored by the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) is designed to celebrate members of the healthcare workforce and recognize their “truly amazing” contributions to the health of their communities, according to WHA President Steve Brenton.
“People who work in hospitals are among Wisconsin’s most dedicated and valuable employees. It takes special people to care for others and our communities are richer, safer and healthier places to live because of these professionals,” Brenton said. “Whether they are on the front lines, or supporting those who deliver patient care, every healthcare employee helps improve the health status in the community where they live and work.”
In order to be
chosen for this award, employees were asked to describe what led them to choose
an occupation in health, and why they decided to work in a hospital. A number
of Mile Bluff’s staff members submitted their essays to a committee and from
that group, Rhonda was chosen to be honored at the recognition banquet. An excerpt from Rhonda’s winning essay stated, “Knowing that I can make a difference in their [patients’] lives makes me excited to come to work every day. Nursing is a career choice that has given me so much more than I could have ever thought. I’ve become a better person through my experiences. It helps me to be a better daughter and sister, friend, mother and wife. I cherish the moments I have with those I love. Nursing has brought out the very best in me and that’s how I can make a difference. Nursing is a life-changing career. I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of such an extraordinary group.”
May 10 – 16 is Hospital Week, and Mile Bluff is pleased to take this opportunity to announce that Rhonda Larson is Mauston’s recipient of the 2009 Wisconsin Healthcare Employee Pride award. Congratulations Rhonda! |
