Mile Bluff Medical Center fundraisers support the Juneau County Relay for Life

By Amanda Emery

Fundraising efforts have been taking place all over Juneau County the past few months in preparation for the Relay for Life held at the Mauston High School track on July 30 and 31.   Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston has been doing its part to help as well!

Kathy Marose held her lasagna lunch on Friday, June 11.  For a $5 donation, participants were treated to a meal of homemade lasagna, salad, fruit and a brownie dessert.  The crowd of over 100 was pleased with the delicious food; with many people commenting on how good everything tasted.  This event is an annual favorite at Mile Bluff, with all the profits going to the Relay for Life, which this year totaled over $500.

On Wednesday, June 23, Mary Crowley and Dolly Fleming held their annual brat and hot dog luncheon.  There was a great group of employees that turned out to show their support for the Relay for Life.  For just $5, individuals were able to enjoy their choice of brat or hot dog, as well as beans, chips and dessert.  During the event, there were 140 meals served, raising around $700 for the cause.

The last of the tasty fundraisers was held in the dining room at Mile Bluff Medical Center on Wednesday, June 30.  Those who wanted to satisfy their sweet tooth cravings had the opportunity to purchase slices of pie for $2, with all monies raised going to the Relay for Life.  With 33 different homemade pies that ranged in categories from custard and cream to fruit and specialty, there was something to satisfy everyone.  The pies were made - and judged in a special contest prior to the sale - by Mile Bluff Medical Center employees and relatives.  Total sales from this event going to the Relay for Life were $632.

A special thank you goes out to all those who participated in any or all of these events.  Whether you donated your time or money, it was greatly appreciated, and it went to a great cause.
