Understanding Depression - Feb 24, 2011, 7-9 pm Hess Conference Room, Mile Bluff Medical Center: Topics include: what signs to look for, how to support a depressed person, & the signs of suicidal ideation. 

    It is estimated that over 18 million American adults, as well as four percent of children, are diagnosed with depression each year.  It does not discriminate against age, race, or gender; it affects everyone.  Your spouse, child, parent, grandparent or friend could be dealing with depression. 

    If you have loved ones living with depression, you know that it not only hurts them, it affects you too.  If you want to help, but are unsure of what to do, join the Understanding Depression Support Group at Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston. 

Topics to be discussed include:

·         signs and symptoms to look for

·         support strategies you can use with your loved one

·         suicide prevention

·         intervention techniques (counseling and medication management)

·         myths about depression

Other subjects will also be explored as determined by the needs of the group.
